Beginning Guitar Classes as part of the Music Speaks program for Grades 9-12
NEW TERM BEGINS Tuesday, March 30th
4:30-5:45 for 6 weeks
Description: Do you love to listen to music and wish you could play the songs you love? In this class you'll learn guitar technique and some basic theory by learning songs. You get to build a 'guitar playing toolbox' of chords as well as strumming and finger picking patterns that help you work through the initial hurdles of guitar playing: putting your fingers on the strings, reading chord charts, and singing playing simultaneously.
Music Speaks, a program of Passim Folk Music & Cultural Center, teaches teenagers from all communities’ basic guitar playing and songwriting techniques. With the help of dedicated teachers, donated guitars, and scholarships, Music Speaks provides a nurturing musical environment for teenagers. Through music education, students learn valuable life skills, including confidence, creativity, and discipline.
"Where words fail, music speaks." - Hans Christian Anderson
Cost: $132/$108 members for the semester. Partial scholarships & guitars available for those who qualify!
