Q: How can I get a gig at Club Passim?

A: Due to the volume of requests we receive, we are unfortunately not able to offer bookings to everyone who contacts us.

In the meantime, please take advantage of our Tuesday open stage--as well as other area open stages, clubs, and radio shows--and keep us apprised of your performances.

If you send us your materials, we will keep them on file and will contact you if we would like to schedule you for a date at the Club.

We try to respond to feedback we receive from the community, so create a buzz about yourself and we will respond to it!
Q: If I get a gig at Club Passim. What do I need to do next?

A: Club Passim produces 30-40 shows a month, 400-500 shows a year, presenting over 600 artists a year to over 25,000 patrons per year. It is very hard work and we will need support and help to make each show successful.

The ultimate issue is how we can generate an audience cooperatively. It is very competative marketplace and we will need your support to get the audience out. It is very important for each artists to help Club Passim reach the right audiences for each individual artist or group. Suggestions 1. Be sure to send the Club a photograph (4-5 photographs if you want us to be able to send them out to the area newspapers) and bio materials with a short and concise discription of your performances work, 60-90 days before your performance. The Club will use this material to send out press releases and include your materials in our two month calendar. The Club sends out press releases to 200-300 radio, tv, print and computer online media services. The calendar is sent to 5,000 to 10,000 patrons, plus distributed at clubs, coffeehouses and music store outlets throughout New England.

2. Send out postcards, flyers and/or invitations to your mailing list, friends and family. Send out your own press release to specific media contacts who you have a direct relationship with (Storytellers should make sure events are listed in the storytelling publications, etc.). Send out a press release and photograph to your hometown paper.

3. Schedule radio interviews on WERS, WUMB, WGBH, WBUR, WMFO and other area radio stations on the day of the performance or during the week prior to the performance.

4. Purchase advertising space in the Club Passim Newsletter & Calendar, the New England Folk Almanac and Boston Phoenix for your performance (Especially important for CD release parties when record companies and retail stores can do cooperative advertising).

5. Talk your performance up with friends and make telephone calls during the last week prior to your performance to remind folks of the event.

There is no one way to reach the public. The most successful shows are usually a combination of these approaches which reinforce each other. Club Passim will do its best to support each and every show.

Best wishes,
Club Passim Management
